Antique Rose Birthday Card

by Anne Harada

Hello! I’ve been “crafty” in many different areas ever since I can remember. About 9 years ago I discovered paper crafts and stamping at a home stamping party. From that point on, the more I learned and collected, the more I pursued this art form. I still feel like I am just getting started! I love paper toile art, “coloring”, and collage, but my first love is stamping and learning stamping techniques! I tend to go through phases of stamping techniques and products and try to keep on top of what’s new. I recently attended my first CHA convention that completely re-energized and motivated me! It was a thrill to discover new products and meet vendors and on-line friends that I’d known for years but never met. I’ve been on a couple of different design teams now, host occasionally and post over on Splitcoast Stampers. Currently I hold workshops on request and sell my cards and paper craft gifts in an independently owned boutique shop.

I hope you’ll enjoy my first project as part of the FranticStamper Design Team.

                  and
"Happy Birthday" sentiment from "Round Frames" (INK-CS-97635 $9.99)
      EMBELLISHMENTS
Prima Roses - Tea Roses, Quarry (PRI-ROS2-537470 $3.99)

3D Square Foam Dots- 230 squares per sheet

INSTRUCTIONS:

      • Stamp Frantic Stamper’s "Open 9 Patch" image from "Plate 81" at an angle on Basic Grey Porcelain “Chatsworth” paper using Chestnut Roan and Dark Brown Fluid Chalk ink.

      • Stamp rose image from Inkadinkadoo Flower Sentiments in corners using Chestnut Roan ink.

      • Cut two small ¾” squares from the Chatsworth paper and sponge edges with Dark Brown Fluid Chalk ink. Position small squares inside two of the stamped square areas and adhere with dimensionals.

      • Stamp the “happy birthday” sentiment from Inkadinkadoo’s Round Frames set as shown on sample.

      • Adhere three roses from the Prima Flowers Fleurs de Prima “Tea Roses – Quarry” collection in corner of stamped ‘Open 9 Patch” image with foam squares.

      • Create matching faux paper ribbon.

      • Cut a 1”- wide strip of Chatsworth paper, mist with water, scrunch it up into a ball.

      • Open it up, spritz again with water and scrunch it up again.

      • Open it up and now shape it into flowing folds to look like a crumpled ribbon strip. Handle gently at this point, the paper is very easy to manipulate so little pressure is required.

      • Once you have decided on the shape, use a heat gun to set it. It becomes stiff like paper mache.

      • Sponge the dried faux ribbon with Dark Brown ink.

      • Repeat the process to create and shape a faux bow for the ribbon.

      • Open the ‘legs” of a large brad and use it to clasp the faux bow to the faux ribbon. Adhere the completed ribbon to the top of your card.

      • Layer the card front to a layer of Chocolate Crème cardstock and then to a layer of Basic Grey Dresdin paper.
      • Adhere the card front to a cream colored Cardstock base. Completed card is 5x7 size.

Thanks for coming by. I hope you’ve enjoyed the project!
