Easter egg easel card

By Joanne Wardle

I think I have always been a crafter (I would always consider myself a crafter rather than an artist). I learned to knit at age 6 and still love to knit now. I will try my hand at anything. I got into papercrafting after my second son was born as I wanted to try scrapbooking pictures of my sons, so I started with making a few cards to get the hang of the techniques, and I was hooked! Stamping came later, as I really didn't get it at first, but I got involved with a group of stampers online and saw all the amazing things you could do with stamps and the obsession started. I don't think I have a set style, because I like both cute and arty, I like to make simple clean designs one day and fussy layered designs the next. I started blogging a few years ago, just so that I could join in with the online challenges, and before I knew it I was hooked on that as well.

I hope you’ll be hooked on the design team projects. I am excited to share my first project with you. A few days ago the team shared an Easter easel card. Here is my twist on the easel... a shaped card.

Easter Egg Easel Card

Materials

      Plain white card
      Scrap black card
      Stamps:
            Inkadinkadoo Flourishes (INK-CS-97618 $9.99)
            Stampendous Spring Curls, 2"x6" sheet
(STM-SSC-663 $7.99)
Acrylic block (for example: SUN-AB-2.5x3.5 $3.50)
      INK
            Black archival ink (RAN-ARCP-jet $5.49)
            Distress Ink Pads:
                  Worn Lipstick (RAN-DP-Lip $5.00)

                  Peeled Paint (RAN-DP-Paint $5.00)
      Cut and dry foam (http://www.franticstamper.com/cutndry.htm) RAN-CND-foam $4.99
      Pearl Brads, Black (AMC-PBR-black $3.99)
      Prima flowers: 4-petal Flower Pink, 1.25" to 1.5" (PRI-EFL-301033 $1.59)
Green paper and Scrap of pink paper from Two Scoops Collection
(BG-A-TWOSC $17.99)

Technique

      • Use an egg shaped template (I actually used a piece of card that came in an easter egg box with an egg shaped hole that supported the chocolate egg, but there are egg templates to download on the internet.)

      • Fold a piece of white card and lay the template so that the fold is about ½ inch from the top of the egg. Cut out through both pieces of card. Fold the top piece of this card about halfway back to create the easel mechanism.

      • Cut another egg shaped piece of card. Decorate this by shading with worn lipstick distress ink and cut’n’dry foam. Over stamp with inkadinkadoo flourish in same colour, then stamp in black with happy easter from stampendous spring curls, then with the curls of the same stamp. Embellish with prima flowers and black pearl brads.

      • Cover base of easel part with green paper, edge with peeled paint ink and overstamp with flourish and peeled paint ink. Stamp chick swirl from spring swirls. Decorate with more flowers and brad and scraps of black card and pink paper. Attach bottom half of egg to easel mechanism.

I hope you’ll enjoy trying this special seasonal easel card. Until the next time...
Joanne
