Pillow Box

I love making little gift boxes, it’s easy to find loads of templates on the internet for making boxes, but they can be a pain to print out and resize. This technique can easily adapted to make any size of pillow box you like quickly and easily. The size given is for a small box.

Instructions

• Cut a piece of black card 6.5”x5”.
  Along the short edge fold down a ½ inch flap.
  Then fold the bottom edge up to meet this crease line.
  This forms the basic structure of the box.
  
  
• Using a circular object (or a compass) draw an arc approximately as shown.
  It does not need to be exact as long as it cuts the folds at the same distances from the edge (I have marked this line in white, but a pencil will do the job just as well).
  
  
• Cut out this arc, then draw around it onto a piece of card, to make a template.
  
  
• Draw round the template to repeat this cut three more times as shown, then use it to make the score lines.
  
  
• Score heavily with an embossing tool. Fold up and glue flap into place.
  
  
• To make the stamped decoration.
  Cut a piece of white card 2.5”x2”.
  Stamp the seed head from the stamp set with crushed olive distress ink, then ink the edges with the same colour using cut’n’dry foam.
  Over stamp with the bird branch from the same set.
  Attach a scrap of basic grey paper and 3 dewdrops.
  Tie a ribbon around the box and glue the stamped card in place over the ribbon.
