Hello Sunshine

For part of the past month we have been staying at the home my husband inherited from his grandparents, trying to make a dent in the massive amount of stuff that accumulated there in the past century. For the past few years, though, I have been gradually ADDING to the accumulation, setting up a little craft space for myself in the laundry room. I have a die cutting machine, a paper cutter, a tape gun, some other tools, and a small assortment of papers that I was able to buy at the semi-local (about 30 minutes away) big box store. I really need to order some papers from Fran next time we will be there for a while!

Every year I travel with my basic stamping kit (what do you have in your kit? Sometime soon I should share what I carry in mine and how I carry it), some of my favorite adhesives, a small assortment of clear stamps, coloring tools, and usually tools that I plan to leave at the house. This year I was able to carry ALL of the Frantic Stamper Precision Dies (yes, I do have them ALL!) because this year I didn't have much to leave behind.

During some of my down-time I was able to sit down and make some cards. I made two sympathy cards (I lost a dear friend and another dear friend lost her mom), a baby card for a new mom, a couple of Thank You cards, and a couple other cards, including this one.

The color scheme on this was driven by the limited selection of papers I had available, and was WAY out of my comfort zone, but now that it is done, I kind of like it. The layout was driven by a challenge a friend sent. She had seen a photo in a magazine and challenged me to turn what was a vertical layout into a horizontal one. I hope I met her challenge with this card.

Most of the design elements on the card and the sentiment were made with Frantic Stamper dies. I honestly wouldn't have even tried to do the card without the dies; they made this busy layout simple to create.

The set of flag banners were created by folding over the ends of the flag trio and attaching them to the twine.



I made the sentiment stand out more by attaching my colorful one over a black one, just barely offset. The black is tied into the rest of the elements by the black faux stitching on the project.



One fun thing of note: I had no bakers' twine to use for the project so I created some of my own designer twine using some cotton twine I have in my kitchen (used for tying chicken legs, etc.) and some Copic Markers to make a fun and colorful twine to match the project.
