Pretty Bouquet (Karen Oliver)

Pretty Bouquet
by Karen Oliver

Theres something about gingham, especially red and white gingham.  It sets off the Bracket Edger and inserts die just perfectly.  This die comes with 3 different inserts to create the most beautiful edges for your projects.  A die you will reach for again and again.

I cut the Pretty Bouquet die several times from different coloured card stock to create my colourful bouquet of pretty flowers.  I popped little pearls into the centre of some of the flowers to add a little more dimension.  Finished off with a "happy birthday" sentiment.

These dies are so lovely they really need very little embellishment.

Fun in the Snow (Karen Oliver)

Fun in the Snow
by Karen Oliver

Happy World Card Making Day! I hope you are having a chance to be creative today!
Some would probably disagree but coming from somewhere where it doesn't snow in winter, a trip to the snow certainly means lots of fun.

I created a little snowy scene using several Frantic Stamper dies.  The first one is a new in October called Snow Capped Mountains.  I cut two sets and placed then to make a snowy range.  Of course if you didn't want snow on your mountains you can leave the little caps off as they cut separately.

The foreground is created using a favourite set called Stitched Scene Builder edgers, again cut twice.  Next layer is the little trees Snow Globe Triangle trees cut and placed behind Oliver snowman.  I cut him in white then again in the various colours that enable me to dress him up.

There you have it; a fun snow scene.

Autumn Leaves (Karen Oliver)

Autumn Leaves
by Karen Oliver

Whilst the Northern Hemisphere welcomes Fall we in the Southern Hemisphere are saying goodby to winter.  Although with the weather we are having spring may be struggling to appear.

The card I am sharing today features dies from the August Release:  Reverse Cut Leaves, a set of 2 leaves and Fall words, a set of 4 word dies.

My card design is fairly simple but it shows the dies off to their potential using bright Autumn colours on a brown background.  Whilst the dies are designed as leaves the first leaf die could also be used as a feather and the second die I think could take on a tropical look.  Adds to the versatility and usability of the set.

Ride the Carousel (Karen Oliver)

Ride the Carousel
by Karen Oliver

Isn't this such a gorgeous little die.  It's from the June release called Summer Carnival Fun. I just had to add sparkle using silver glitter paper.  I cut the die from the four different papers and then cut and layered them to get the effect I wanted.  I thought it should be a girly card so I added some lace and ribbon with soft feminine papers to create a soft pretty card perfect for any little girl.

Have you seen the new release video from Frantic Stamper yet? This month the release is all about an Undersea Fantasy, complete with mermaids and sunken treasure. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy a journey to this undersea world with our fabulous design team...

Here to share an idea using the background stamps from this and previous releases is Karen Oliver. We hope you will enjoy her fun post!

Under the Sea Bookmarks
by Karen Oliver

Have you seen the awesome Frantic Stamper 6 x 6 Background stamps. They are foam backed with cling mount, deep etched, rubber stamps and they are fantastic.  There are so many uses for these stamps other than creating your own wonderful backgrounds.  My Mum loves to colour so I have stamped some onto card for her to colour.  They are the perfect size for her to put on a lap tray to sit in front of the TV.

I work at a local primary school and needed an activity for the children to do as an end of term treat.  I stamped up some card using the background stamps and cut book marks for them to colour.  Each one is just slightly different due to the cutting which makes them more individualised.  They are going to absolutely love them.

Here's a picture of some of the stamped ones, ready to colour.  These use Wave Tangle, Under the Sea, and Flower Garden.  There are many more than these so pop to the store to take a look.

Plaid Maker Background Stamps (Karen Oliver

Plaid Maker Background Stamps
by Karen Oliver

Bear with me as this is my first step by step post...ever.  Fran has recently added some amazing background stamps to the Frantic Stamper family and they really are so very versatile.

Today I am sharing some ideas using the Plaid Maker.  It consists of 7 separate stamps that can be used in limitless combinations to create your own plaid backgrounds.  I am showing some basic stamping tips and at the end there are some card samples showing some of the results you can achieve.

Its a little photo heavy so sit back with your favourite beverage and enjoy.

I used a stamp press to get the best results and I chose 3 bright colours just for the purpose of this demonstration.  You could use a long acrylic block or your favourite stamping technique to get the same results.  Here are my supplies ready to go.  I placed a piece of paper under my card to prevent ink getting onto my stamp press.

Now turn the piece of card around and repeat the process until you have formed a grid pattern.  If you have a large stamp press you probably won't need to turn your card. Depending on how fussy you want to be you could also use a spacer, made from scrap cardstock, to make sure your gaps are even.  Obviously I didn't, but that's ok too.

Repeat the above process with the next colour in this case green and I chose another stamp to go in between the pink.

This is what we have so far using horizontal and vertical stamping, you could still keep going and add another stamp in-between.

You can also stamp diagonally to create a different pattern using the exact same process as above.  This time I chose purple and another stamp. Stamp across the pattern one way then turn the card and stamp the other to form a diagonal grid.

Hopefully you can see the horizontal, vertical and diagonal stamping lines.  I only used three colours and 3 stamps in these samples but you really are only limited by your imagination.

There are loads and loads of variations and colour combinations that allow you to custom make your own background papers.  You can use the stamps to simply stamp stripes onto a solid coloured background to add some interest.  You can use them to stamp an edge or border around your project. They can also be used to stamp a line.  Truly the uses for this set is limitless.

Here are a few card samples to give you some more ideas.  The first card used 3 colours and stamps in a more open pattern.  Card number two I used 1 colour and 2 stamps and in the third card I used 1 stamp in several colours on the diagonal.

Thanks so much for sitting through this and I hope I have inspired you to add this wonderful stamp set to your collection. I'm sure its one you would use over and over again.

hello (Karen Oliver)

Hello
by Karen Oliver

Dies are so versatile and can be used to create subtle backgrounds by using the embossing method suitable for your die cutting machine.

On this card I used the Peeking Cats die from the January Pet Love release.  I drew very light grids in pencil on my white card stock so I could line the dies up as perfectly as possible.  Using my Cuttlebug I embossed them each 3 times to form my background.

I used the Chevron Edger #1 to cut the corner from the card to add a little interest and placed a piece of coloured paper underneath.  Finishing off with the hello die cut in the same coloured paper.  The hello is also cut out in foam so it sits up off the background.

I love this effect and its a wonderful way to stretch your dies.
