Batik Coloring with stamps
by Sharon JeffsI was recently having a bit of a play in my workroom and discovered a few extra benefits of the Distress inks that I could use to my advantage, namely the way they are affected by water.
I began my background by using a blender and a couple of Distress ink pads to blend the entire surface of my card with color. I chose to use Barn Door, Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge for this.
Once my surface was completely dry, I inked up my Magnolia stamp, an absolute favourite from the Frantic Stamper line, and stamped the image just off a corner. I then continued to stamp the Magnolia around this to create a background of the image. (One thing I also should note is that I used an Archival black stamping ink for this so that my stamped image wouldn’t run during the next step.)
Finally, I used a filled waterbrush to paint water over the petals and buds of the Magnolia image. I found I had to do a few layers of water to get the faded effect that I really wanted.
Happy Coloring!
Love the card and the Distress refresher. Thanks.
