Splattered Valentine Card in Ten (Kathy Berger)

Splattered Valentine Card in Ten
by Kathy Berger

I saw a card on Pinterest with an ink splattered background and a speech bubble that said "hello". For some reason the card really drew my attention. It just seemed fresh and young and full of fun.

I decided I had to make a similar card for my 22 year-old daughter for Valentine's Day. I have a tradition of making her multiple Valentines for her to open throughout the day...started when she started kindergarten. I plan to continue the tradition until she is out of school (she is in graduate school now, working on her Masters...but talking about a PhD, so the tradition may continue for a while!)

To make the card I got out a little bit of reinker and water and a paint brush. I wet the brush well with water, picked up a bit of color from the reinker, and splashed the watery ink onto a layer of card-stock by hitting the brush against my left hand with my right. I did the pink first, and then the red.

Next I simply die-cut some hearts and stuck them onto the splashed layer with different thicknesses of dimensional adhesives, and added my die-cut cartoon speech bubble )I went around the edges of the bubble with a marker, and did the same with the splashed layer before adhering it to my card).

I hope you've enjoyed my Splattered Valentine!
