For part of the past month we have been staying at the home my husband inherited from his grandparents, trying to make a dent in the massive amount of stuff that accumulated there in the past century. For the past few years, though, I have been gradually ADDING to the accumulation, setting up a little craft space for myself in the laundry room. I have a die cutting machine, a paper cutter, a tape gun, some other tools, and a small assortment of papers that I was able to buy at the semi-local (about 30 minutes away) big box store. I really need to order some papers from Fran next time we will be there for a while!

Every year I travel with my basic stamping kit (what do you have in your kit? Sometime soon I should share what I carry in mine and how I carry it), some of my favorite adhesives, a small assortment of clear stamps, coloring tools, and usually tools that I plan to leave at the house. This year I was able to carry ALL of the Frantic Stamper Precision Dies (yes, I do have them ALL!) because this year I didn't have much to leave behind.

During some of my down-time I was able to sit down and make some cards. I made two sympathy cards (I lost a dear friend and another dear friend lost her mom), a baby card for a new mom, a couple of Thank You cards, and a couple other cards, including this one.

The color scheme on this was driven by the limited selection of papers I had available, and was WAY out of my comfort zone, but now that it is done, I kind of like it. The layout was driven by a challenge a friend sent. She had seen a photo in a magazine and challenged me to turn what was a vertical layout into a horizontal one. I hope I met her challenge with this card.

Most of the design elements on the card and the sentiment were made with Frantic Stamper dies. I honestly wouldn't have even tried to do the card without the dies; they made this busy layout simple to create.

The set of flag banners were created by folding over the ends of the flag trio and attaching them to the twine.



I made the sentiment stand out more by attaching my colorful one over a black one, just barely offset. The black is tied into the rest of the elements by the black faux stitching on the project.



One fun thing of note: I had no bakers' twine to use for the project so I created some of my own designer twine using some cotton twine I have in my kitchen (used for tying chicken legs, etc.) and some Copic Markers to make a fun and colorful twine to match the project.

For everyone celebrating a special day, here is a special Anniversary Card!

The base of this card is made using Grand Nestabilities Decorative Labels 1. Use all four layers and use dimensional dots to layer them. The layers are created by using Anna Griffin Soft Hues Metallic with Wild Rose Studio Bluebell papers. To really make the frame pop, cut out two of the largest dies, on the second one (white) trim only the outside edge and layer it over you predominant color, this really makes a difference.

There are a lot of handmade embellishments on this card. Use Sue Wilson Lattice Bow die to make your bow. Punched layered butterflies. The tulips, small birds & hummingbird are made with Frantic Stamper Dies listed below. After forming the tulips & birds use Diamond Glaze to cover and let dry. This gives them a shiny raised finish, beautiful when the light hits them. Using pearls, cabochon flowers and mulberry flowers, embellish as desired.

Because of the size and dimension of cards like this, try placing them in a shadow box. It will make a beautiful long-lasting, one of kind gift!

My life is slowly getting back to normal and I'd like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I haven't done any coloring of images but rather am using ones that are already in my stash. As you all know I love matching dies and images with sentiments which bring an idea together for what I consider to be the perfect marriage of the three. Sometimes an idea goes together so perfectly that I'm totally impressed with my craftiness.

Starting with a Kraft cardstock base and using the Frantic Stamper Sunburst Panel, I cut the base and used gold cardstock to give the look of the sun in the background. The image is colored with Copic markers and highlighted with a white Gelly Roll pen while the pistol is highlight with a glitter pen. The image is perfectly appears to be riding side saddle on the Frantic Stamper Mustang die. The sentiment was cut with the Coved Labels die with the horseshoe and star cut with silver foil paper. Finally I tried to add another element with foam dots. I hope you enjoy this card as much as I do.

I got the idea for this card from a webisode called Simply Ann.  I liked the idea so much that I copied a couple of parts from it (the acetate and the window).  This card takes a little time to do but it's worth it.

I wanted to make a card for my sister who lives in New York State.  I wanted to do a travel theme because we live so far apart.

To start I decided on a 6 1/2 x 5 card base out of white cardstock. I measured some acetate and cut it with about 1/4 inch so that I could bend it back and attach to the back of my card later.  I love working with acetate. There is so much that I can do with it like making shaker boxes, stamped designs for overlays, tinting it with alcohol inks.

I started work with my main card by covering it with paper from Graphic 45's Come Away with Me collection. It fits perfectly with the travel theme. I covered my card and then used the photo card die to cut the center out. Then I glued this cut out to the inside of my card using the cut out as a guide.

I decorated each layer so that there was a surprise when you turned the page.

I love the flower and leaf dies! One die and several sizes of flowers and leaves! Grand!


I can think of so many uses for the light bulb!

Using Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities Oval 1 cut out three layers using colors of choice. The first layer in this arrangement uses Frantic Stamper Tumbling Blocks Panel, so make that panel first then use the Grand Nestability smallest frame to cut out for the centerpiece. Using pearls, dazzle dots and small white hearts decorate the layers, then use dimensional dots to adhere layers together.

Base paper is My Minds Eye Now & Then Wild & Free. Cut out desired size, this project uses an 8x8 Shadow Box.  Adhere the triple layer Oval set in position.

Die cut Stork with Baby Bundle & Baby Pram dies in color of choice. Then using markers and White Opal Pearlescent personalize Pram & Stork. The wheels and handle of the Pram are highlighted using Bronze Pearlescent. Let set overnight .

Use the Silhouette machine to cut out "Baby Boy" in blue & white with foil. Layer for dimension. Make a small banner for the word Joy!

Now the fun starts! Always position your items in place to see if you like it! When it is correct adhere, add flowers, metal embellishments and a Sue Wilson Filigree Bow. Attach the Stork to the bow with a hot glue gun so he looks like he is in mid flight! 

The Frantic Stamper Dies are getting better and better. Don't know how Kathy Berger does it but try them out you won't be disappointed!

Because a lot of the embellishments are hand created, make them all first and allow them to set up, then it is just a matter of placement and embellishing. Just a tip! Helps a lot when it is a detailed creation.

One of the Frantic Stamper dies is a beautiful ornate Hummingbird which I fell in love with the moment I saw it.  It has a lot of uses and ways it could be decorated.  For this card, I coated it in Glossy Accents and Distress Glitter.

Happy US Independence Day! I decided to have a bit of a go at creating a patriotic card - not so easy since I'm not actually an American citizen!

I thought it would be cool to make a pennant using some suede papers and add a USA die to the centre instead of a sports logo.

The whole card took me about 1/2 an hour to make, partly because I didn't have two different shades of the blue for the pennant so I ended up rubbing Picket Fence Distress paint over the surface of the main piece to lighten it and then waiting for it to dry!

Sentiments are what get my creative juices flowing. I see a sentiment and I immediately start thinking about how to add the perfect image and embellishment to make my vision come come to like. I knew I wanted to use this image but the right sentiment didn't seem to be available. As soon as I saw this sentiment I knew it was perfect for this Frantic Stamper cling mounted rubber stamp, Dancing Lady. The image is colored with Copics and additional elements from my stash were added.

Recently my family had a big scare when my daughter developed some worrying symptoms and had to undergo tests to see what were the cause.  For our family, it was a very long three day wait that fortunately ended with an "all clear" result.

As a part of our families daily life, I really felt it was important to document this period but I have been documenting our lives through the Pocket page system which has been ideal for my hectic lifestyle.

Fortunately for me the Becky Higgins range offer more than just pocket page options so I decided to create a page using one of the 6 inch by 12 inch pockets.  This size pocket is perfect for this type of long journalling.  The front section of the pocket featured a traditional scrapbook page in a reduced size while the back of this features a page that has been adapted to hold a private document.

To create my project I used one full sheet of 12 inch by 12 inch patterned card (I used a sheet from a Kaisercraft range) that I folded in half.  On the one half I cut out a window then applied adhesive around the edges of the page and glued the folded halves together so that I created a pocket page with a window to access it.  Here's what the page looked like completed ...



On the front I added a photo that I die cut using the largest Coved Label Die from the Frantic Stamper range.  I layered it over a selection of different die cuts then finished off my half page using flowers and stickers from the same Kaisercraft range.  Lastly, I added a die cut dress form that I inked using distress inks.

I have always loved Asian themed cards. Perhaps it's the mystery of the Orient that draws me in, or maybe the colors. Either way, this is what inspired me to make today's card. I haven't made many Asian-inspired cards in a while but when I got Frantic Stamper's Fish Scales card Panel die, that's what I immediately thought of.  The die cut was so beautiful, I didn't really want to do too much.

My card started with a black card base with beige star dream card on top.  Underneath the die cut (which was cut out of blue foil card) is a piece of Yuzen Washi paper in red with gold flying cranes.  I die cut a Kanji character and mounted it on some of the same card I used for the main card.  I used some mizuhiki cord in gold and blue behind it.  I also cut out a leafy vine in gold glossy.




A simple card but very bold.  I hope you enjoyed it!
