Alice's Halloween Card

by Lis Whiting

I love love love the new Graphic 45 Halloween papers! What a great combination with Alice in Wonderland and Halloween. The cardstock is high quality and sturdy. The colors are really vibrant with purples, blues and oranges. And who can resist Alice with the old drawings faithfully copied and added to this wonderful paper!

Instructions

  • Fold your gold pearl card base in half. The card will open from the side. Set aside.

  • Make your Hallowe’en block:
    • Cut out the Hallowe’en in Wonderland block from the Jabberwocky sheet.
    • Tear around the entire image.
    • Using your craft mat and blending tool, blend wild honey distress ink around the edges.
    • Add Rusty Hinge to the corners using blending tool.

  • Make your Alice Collage:
    • Select an image that is about 3"x4" from Curiouser paper (I chose Alice but there are many wonderful images on this paper.)
    • Select some other images only cut these out into smaller squares (doesn’t have to be exact).
I chose some colorful victorian Halloween images of a pumkin and a moon.
    • Use the decoupage glue (or other collage glue such as mod podge, golden medium) and a foam brush (you can get the brush for a dollar usually at a Michaels)
    • Brush some glue onto your manila cardstock and adhere your first piece.
Keep brushing glue and adhering until all pieces are glued on. Be sure to glue Alice (or your focal image) on last.

    • Take a clock stamp and stamp randomly with black ink on your collage.
    • Take a cotton swab and dab it into versamark ink.
Touch lightly on areas you want to accent in gold. (Or use a Versamark pen; Frantic Stamper carries it.)
    • Use gold embossing powder on the areas you dabbed with Versamark ink.
      Emboss with a heat gun
    • Cut out a piece from your collage 3 7/8" x 1 1/2".
    • Attach your cut piece to the black cardstock and trim a 1/8" inch border around it.
  • Finish up:
    • Cut a 5 ¼ x 4 piece of the striped side of Uncommon Nonsense paper(stripes should be horizontal).
    • Punch three photo corners from the blue side.
    • Punch the upper left corner with the spider web punch in the striped piece.
    • Adhere your photo corners to the other three corners of the striped paper.
    • Tie a bow using black satin ribbon. Make sure to leave tails long enough to go around your card.
    • Temporarily position Alice and the Hallowe’en block on your paper so you can correctlyplace your ribbon bow.
    • Adhere the ribbon to the card with double-stick tape, and adhere the ends of ribbon to the back of the paper.
    • Add double stick tape to Alice Collage and adhere to the card so it overlaps the ribbon.
    • Use mounting tape to adhere the Hallowe’en block so it slightly overlaps the collage.
Sign the back of your card because this is a work of art!
