Materials

Technique

  • Use cut’n’dry foam to colour all of white card with tattered rose distress ink, then just the edges with worn lipstick.

  • Stamp the dancer onto card, then using a wet paint brush pick the colour away from the dancer’s body.

  • Mix a tiny bit of perfect pearls with water, and use it to pant the dancer’s dress.

  • Distress the edge of the card with the blade of a pair of scissors. Attach the scraps of music paper, and the flowers and brad, then attach to black card.

"Double Duty" Easel Card

"Double Duty" Easel Card

The punched Fun Foam butterflies do double duty on this card, first acting as stamps, and then as embellishments.

Materials:

Instructions:

  • Make the Button

    • Punch one button out of the Ornate Floral paper and three out of the Hunter Core-dinations card-stock.
      *NOTE: The button punch leaves a small connection between the button and the card-stock/paper in order to keep the piece from getting trapped in the punch.
                      These connections need to be severed in order to use the punch-out.
    • Using the glue pen, glue the button punch-outs together, with the floral one on top, taking care to align the holes.
    • Let the glue dry .
    • Apply a layer of Crystal Laquer to the top of the button.
    • Use a tooth pick to clear the laquer out of the holes.
    • Set aside until completely dry.
    • When dry, weave twine through the holes, then tie a knot (making sure it is on the top of the button. Trim the twine near the knot.

  • Make the "Stamp" and Embellishments

    • Set up the Cuttlebug and the heat gun near each other.
    • Use the heat gun to heat the fun foam until the foam starts to get soft and limp.
    • Immediately put the fun foam into the embossing folder.
    • Run the embossing folder through the Cuttlebug immediately (Sandwich: A-Plate, B-Plate, folder, B-Plate.)
    • Let the foam cool for about 30 seconds before removing from the sandwich.
    • Using the butterfly punch, punch the textured foam several (at least four) times. Reserve the punch-outs.
    • Using the removable Dotto, affix a foam butterfly punch-out to the clear mount.

  • Prepare the Base

    • Cut the white card-stock to 4 1/4" x 11".
    • Use the Scor-Pal to score the card-stock, in landscape orientation, at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2".
    • Mountain fold on both score lines. This forms the card base for an easel card.
    • Turn the card so that it is in portrait orientation, with the main fold at the top and the other fold at the front of the card. Set aside.

  • Prepare the Card Front

    • Cut a piece of Hunter card-stock to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".
    • Cut a piece of Ornate Floral paper to 4" x 4 3/4".
    • Cut a piece of white card-stock to about 4 1/2" x 2".
      Punch with the border punch along the long edge of one side of this piece of card stock.
      Trim to 4" width, chosing where to trim so that the scallops are even on the two ends.
    • Using the mounted foam butterfly and the bordeaux ink, stamp two butterflies on the Ornate Floral Paper.
      Let the ink dry throroughly on the foam piece.
    • Using the other ink pads, lightly ink three other foam butterflies. Let dry.
    • Use the black Sharpie pen to draw bodies on the four foam butterflies.
    • Mount the white scalloped piece near the bottom of the Hunter card-stock (leaving a 1/8" border.)
    • Glue a piece ribbon flush to the bottom edge of the Ornate Floral paper, glueing the ribbon ends behind the paper.
    • Mount the Ornate Floral paper onto the Hunter card-stock, aligning the edges with the edges of the white trim piece.
    • Glue the inked butterflies (including the one that was temporarily mounted) onto the card front.
    • Add jewels to the card front as desired.
    • Tie a bow with the remaining ribbon. Attach the bow to the piece of ribbon on the card using a small glue dot.
    • Apply glue to the lower portion of the front of the card base. Attach the card front to the front, aligning the front carefully to the base.

  • Prepare the Card Interior

    • Cut a piece of Hunter card-stock to 3 3/4" x 4 1/4".
    • Cut a piece of Ornate Floral paper to 1" x 3 3/4".
    • Cut a piece of white card-stock to about 2" x 4 1/4".
      Use the edge punch to punch along the long strip of the white card-stock.
      Trim the strip to 3 3/4", making sure the two ends are evenly punched.
    • Attach the Ornate Floral paper 1/4" from the bottom edge of the inside of the card.
      Attach the white punched strip over the Ornate Floral paper, 1/8" from the bottom edge.
      Attach the Hunter card-stock to the inside of the card, over the Ornate Floral and white trim, leaving a 1/4" border from the top.
    • Stamp the stamp with the white pigment ink near the bottom edge of the Hunter card-stock.
    • Glue down the fourth butterfly to use as a stop for the easel.
    • Glue three rhinestones to the card.
    • Use a thick glue dot to attach the button, slightly overlapping the butterfly.

Instructions

      Create the main panel by cutting a 4-1/2” x 2-3/4” square of S.E.I. “Key to My Heart” designer paper from Lovebirds collection . Cut a 4-1/2” x 2” strip of yellow Dotted Swiss paper by Bazzil. Punch the length of the yellow strip using Martha Stewart border punch. Adhere strip to designer paper on the side of the panel as shown.

      From the Lovebirds collection die cuts page, punch out the square brown, lined diecut tag. Adhere Thickers Emerald Hay Flocked Chip Board stickers to tag to create sentiment. Tie yellow ribbon through corner holes of tag. Attach completed tag to main panel with square foam stickers.

      Layer main panel onto white and brown Dotted Swiss card stock.

      Completed card is 5x7”.

Shabby Spring Tag

  • For this tag, I first stamped a large manila shipping tag with a favorite flourish stamp using Memento Ink (Bamboo Leaves). I tore a coordinating scrap piece of printed paper and the definition of “spring” from an old dictionary.

  • To give my tag a shabby vintage appearance, I stippled distress inks (Peeled Paint and Antique Linen) on the edges of the stamped tag, torn printed paper piece, definition, and lace piece.



  • I glued the piece of lace to the bottom edge of the tag. Next, I glued the torn printed paper piece to the tag, overlapping edge of lace.



  • I always take a moment to lay out my embellishments before attaching any of them to my piece of art. I feel it is good to experiment with different arrangements to “see” what looks the best.

  • When I decided on how I wanted my tag to look, I first glued on my definition. Using mini glue dots, I attached my Prima leaves, paper bag flower, and vintage looking buttons (threaded with twine) to the tag.



  • To help add depth and character to my tag, I highlighted the stamped flourish design with a sparkling Stardust pen. This adds a soft touch of glisten.



  • The final embellishment was to add some vintage looking ribbon and a torn scrap of a muslin type fabric to the top of the tag.



This tag is ready for the arrival of spring! I look forward to the next time I share with you. Until then...

Simple Creative Joy

Sometimes a simple card can really bring joy to the creative process. Hi Everyone, Erika here and today I’m sharing with you an easy project that is so versatile.

Materials

Instructions

  • Step 1- Cut white cardstock at 5 1/2” x 8 1/” score at 4 1/4”. Set aside

  • Step 2- Cut grey patterned paper 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”. Adhere 4” x 5 1/4” patterned paper to card front. Cut out large print patterned paper 4” x 5 1/4”. Adhere to card front.

  • Step 3- Cut out 2- 1 1/2” x 2 1/4”grey patterned paper and adhere 1 3/8” x 1 1/8” patterned papers on top of each. Adhere to card front.

  • Step 4- Cut 4 1/2” piece of ribbon and adhere to card front, wrapping around edges.

  • Step 5- Cut out 2 3/4” x 3 1/2” piece of green based patterned paper and adhere to card front.

  • Step 6- cut out 2 5/8” x 3 3/8” white cardstock piece. Stamp image onto cardstock using Black Memento ink.

  • Step 7- Apply distress inks to craft sheet. Pick up color with Niji Water brush and color image. You can also use a paint brush and mini misters for this as well.

  • Step 8- Apply Distress Stickles to hat and Glitz Stickles to bow.

  • Step 9- Apply Glossy Accents to glass. Let dry.

  • Step 10- Adhere stamped image to card front

  • Step 11- Finish card with pearls and Shimmerz for eye shadow.

Lady Collage

Supplies

How to:

  • Cut black cardstock to the size of 5 1/2"X8 1/2", score it and fold in half.

  • Cut Black Floral pattern paper to the size of 4"X5 1/2" and adhere to card.

  • Cut Black Floral pattern paper to the size of 3 3/8"X4 3/8" and adhere to a piece of Wild Pansy cardstock cut to the size of 3 1/2"X4 3/4", adhere to card.

  • Cut a piece of black cardstock to the size of 4"X1 1/2" and adhere to card.

  • Using Lady Collage stamp image, ink image with black ink, and stamp on white cardstock. Trim, and using the sponge distress the edges with black ink.

  • Cut prongs off of three silver square rhinestones and using The Ultimate Glue adhere to upper right hand corner of image.

  • Using The Ultimate Glue, adhere flower embellishment (Makayla Daisy Crazy daisy, black lace flower, Bazzill White Mini Poinsettia, and silver square rhinestone)to lower left hand corner.

  • I started going through older photos of my family and stumbled upon one of my aunt/godmother Monique, when she was a child… I scanned and printed it with the old border, which I cut along to keep the vintage look of the picture.

  • I love to play with colors on my layouts. That’s why I chose this colorful patterned paper from Basic Grey ! As my layout is sized 8x8’, I had huge left-overs of this paper, so I could use the other side, which is more pink, for this girl picture. I also added a bit of another Basic Grey paper from a different line.

  • Once all my papers and the picture were glued to the background, I stitched circles on and around the picture for the focus.

  • I love details and textures on my pages. I played with acrylic paint in yellow and pink, with a pen cap and a brush, all along the stitched circles.

  • I cut some characters from another paper in the same Basic Grey line and stuck them almost all in one place with stickers to embellish the layout.

Bleach Card

Instructions

  • 
 Cut the card to the following:
    • Brown - 6" by 8 1/2" (Fold in half for the main body of the card)
    • Dark blue - 4" by 5 3/4 " (This is the mat)
    • Light blue - 3 3/4" by 5 1/2"
    • White - 5 1/2" by 2" (cut two of these)

  • Assemble the rollagraph wheel and handle and roll stamp over the inkpad. Roll lengthways across the light blue card and sprinkle with embossing powder before heat setting. br />

  • Fill the waterbrush with bleach and very carefully paint the inside sections of each leaf. As the bleach dries the blue will lighten. Repeat until the inside of each leaf is close to white. Leave the piece to dry thoroughly.


  • Using the EK Success border punch, Punch along one of the long sides on both pieces of white card stock.


  • Attach dark blue piece to the centre of the folded brown card.


  • Using the Martha Stewart Double scalloped punch, punch along the long edge of the light blue card.


  • Using the watercolour pencils, colour each leaf, blending different shades to give a more realistic effect. Don’t be too concerned with it being perfect as you will be blending over with a waterbrush when you are finished. (If possible use a second waterbrush for the water as it can be difficult to remove all traces of the bleach).

    • Before water


    • After water


  • Attach the white strips behind the punched edges of the light blue card and trim off any overhang.


  • Scatter some of the clear flowers across the leaves and secure in place with one of the brads.


  • Adhere to the front of the card.

Happy Easter Card

  • Fold the dark brown cardstock in half to make your base card. Cut the brown pattern cardstock to 4x5 ¼. Layer this onto your card.

  • Punch the strip of yellow patterned card-stock.
    (I love Martha Stewart’s edger (border) punches. The designs are detailed and the punch is easy to use. I don’t normally buy holiday punches but when I saw this one I had to have it!)

    • Place the strip of yellow patterned cardstock into the punch. I find it easier to work with the handle next to me (although the design is upside down). You can work left to right or right to left; I work left to right.

    • Make sure that the edge of the paper is flush against the lip of the punch. This assures that you will have a straight border when you’re done.

    • Press the handle down and make your first punch.

    • Pull the paper to the right. You can see the punched pattern.

    • Match the pattern you have punched to the pattern on the punch itself, and that the paper is flush against the lip of the punch.
      (Carefully matching the pattern ensures that you will punch correctly along the paper.)

    • Punch again.

    • Repeat pulling paper to the right and puncing until you have punched a 6 inch length of this border.
      (I always punch a little extra so that I can move the border back and forth on my card to get the best placement.)

  • Lay your punched border along the base of your card and cut the excess off.

  • Glue the ribbon to the bottom of the border strip.

  • Glue the border/ribbon to the base of your card. Add 3mm white pearls to the punched bunnies for their tails.

  • Punch a scalloped oval out of glitter cardstock.

  • Add Happy Easter in cardstock letters to the oval.

  • Punch a small hole in the lower left of the oval.

  • Place a small brad through the center of a purple flower and attach the flower to the oval.

  • Add a 5mm white pearl to the top of the brad.

  • Place mounting tape on the back of your oval.

  • Attach your oval to your Easter card.
