    • Soft Pink Organza Ribbon – 1/8 inch     ( CR-ORG8-Spnk   $0.25/yard)
    • Pink Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon     ( CR-dot-PKPK   $0.75/yard)

    • Pearlescent Glitter - #189 Pearl     ( AIG-189-pearl   $4.00)
  • Tools
  • Adhesives
    • Fast Drying Glue
  • Miscellaneous
    • Fancy jar (I used an old oil container)
    • Florists’ wire

Instructions

  • Select layers of three flowers to group together to make one bloom.
I grouped some as a large, medium and a small; while others I grouped as two mediums and a small.

  • Select the appropriate Brad daddies for your flower grouping combinations.
For example, I used the medium sized daddy for the flowers that had a large flower in them and the small daddy for the others.

  • Punch covers from the patterned paper and create each of the brads.
Attach each to form each of the blooms.

  • Using each of the pieces of florist wire, curl one of the ends with a needle nose pliers or similar tool.

  • Bend the curled end of the wire at a 90 degree angle.
This will be used to hold the bloom to the wire.

  • Punch out a circle from the patterned paper using the circle punch.
You will need a circle for each of the blooms.
Pierce a hole in the centre of each circle and thread the wire through.

  • Adhere each of the circles to the back of each of the flowers.
Make sure the wire stem is secure and put aside to dry thoroughly.

  • Cut the organza into pieces and tie around the neck of your jar.
Tie a bow over this with the grosgrain ribbon.

  • Shake the glimmer mist well then give a few squirts into the container and swirl around.
    Pour out any excess.

  • Pour some of the glitter into the container and swish around.
This will help the Glimmer mist to dry while adding an additional layer of shimmer to the jar.

  • Arrange the flowers in the jar as desired.

Spirit

by Lis Whiting

Spirit

I made this unique card in the shape of the letter “S”. “S” can stand for many things. For my card, it stands for the spirit and strength of all those fighting cancer.

Materials

    • Bazzill Petunia, Basics Monochromatic, Red-Violet    ( BB-MC-RD/VIO   $11.99)
    • The following would be hand torn strips about 2-3 inches wide and about 6 inches long.
      • Yuzen Washi Paper in Pink     ( SEA-BK-2238   $11.95)
      • Bo Bunny, Petal Pushers Doodles Double Sided Paper, pink side     ( BBP-P-03066   $0.89)
      • Penny Black, Antique Writing, Art of Writing Papers     ( SEA-BK-1156   $11.95)
  • Inks and Embossing Powders
  • Embellishments
    • Kaiser Craft White Pearls, Snow     ( KAI-PRL-794   $1.99)
    • Pink Satin Ribbon, 1/8” wide, about 4” long
    • Basic Grey, Micro Monograms, Alphabet Stickers     ( BG-S-BAS-2573   $1.59)
    • Tim Holtz Tissue Tape, Marketplace     ( ADV-TH-92827   $9.99)
    • Brass Charms (heart and wings)
  • Tools
  • You have several different choices for the “S” card shape.
    • Accucut Letter “S” (Roman 4”)
    • You can purchase two chipboard letters and cover them with papers
    • Draw your own “S” and cut out.
    • Grungeboard Alpha Plain     ( ADV-GB-92496   $19.99 --- sale 10.99)
    • Sizzix Big Shot Machine (pink/black) SIZ-Big-manual   $99.99) with
Sizzix BigZ Alphabet Uppercase Die, Sassy Serif “S”
(These dies are available individually at a cost of $19.99; If you want one, ask Fran.)

Instructions

  • For this card we are going to make SERENDIPITY PAPER.
This is a fun way to use up all those little pieces of paper that you can’t bear to throw away (you should see my pile!).
When I make serendipity paper, I never know exactly how it will come out but that’s the fun and the serendipity of it!

    • Fold your petunia card in half. The card opens on the right.

    • Choose between 3 and 4 different papers. I chose 3; two in pink shades and one in beige.

    • Rip your paper into large 2-3 inch strips.

    • Keep in mind that you want the fold line to be clean so when you glue paper in this area trim it if you need to.

    • Glue the strips onto your card horizontally. (This is because we are going to cut the S and we want it to cut through the different lines of paper.)

TIP: You don’t need to use strips. You can paste on pieces however you want. It’s serendipity paper!

  • Run the serendipity paper card through either accucut or sizzix big shot with 4” letter “S”, or use another method to make your "S" card.

Now you can really see how the cut of the letter ran through the different papers. It comes out nice every time.

  • The next thing I did was add the pink ribbon.

    • I cut the ribbon to about 4 inches.

    • I added a drop of glue to where the ribbon tails would cross and then glued the tails on top of one another.

    • I let this dry.

    • Once dry I added a drop of glue to the card and glued the ribbon to the card.

  • I added the heart next and then the angel wing charms, using mounting tape.

  • I added the ribbon first so that I could have a better idea about where I would need to balance the card.

  • I added white pearls to either end of the “S”.

  • I added the two words “spirit” and “strength” to the bends in the “S”.

Some of the letters like the “p”, “t” and “g” hang off the card but I thought this added some charm to the card.

  • The micro mono letters were manila and I needed to add a little color because they kind of faded into the card’s background.
I used a paper towel and my finger and brushed corduroy.
I touched my finger onto the ink pad and rubbed the ink onto the letters until I was happy with the coloring.

Although this is a small card, I like giving it to people.I write a line or two on the inside (can’t hide money in there!). I use a “V” for Valentine’s Day and a “C” for Christmas. Sometimes I add the decorated letter to the front of a card. It’s all fabulous!

I hope that you try making some serendipity paper for your cards! See you next time!

Pretty Pink Paper Purse

Materials

  • Paper and Cardstock
    • S.E.I. Papers, Claire Vivacious     ( SEI-8-5007   $0.99)
  • Embellishments
  • Tools
    • Original PINK Crop-A-Dile     ( WRM-CAD-pink   $24.99)
    • Template Pattern
    • Scoring tool of choice
    • Ruler
  • Adhesives

Instructions

  • Click on this Template Pattern link to download the pattern pdf.
Print the template and cut it out.
*Tip: I use clear contact paper to laminate my templates.
I mark the intersection of score lines by punching a hole with a long-reach 1/8" hole punch so it is easy to transfer the score lines from the pattern to the project.

  • Trace the template onto the wrong side of Vivacious paper and cut out the purse.

  • Mark the location of the score lines, and using a straight edge (ruler) and scoring tool, score the fold lines.

  • Fold on the score lines to form purse.

  • Apply glue to the small areas shown in the template and adhere to their neighboring panels to help the purse keep its shape.

  • Choose three of the Prima Sprites (I used a large, medium, and small pink sprite)

  • Crumple each of the three Sprites.

  • Carefully re-open the three Sprites.

  • Stack the sprites and use a brad to hold them together.

  • Glue the flower to the front of the purse flap.

  • Attach magnet snaps to the insde of the purse flap and to the inside of the purse to keep the purse shut.

  • With two eyelets, attach a piece of 1/4" wide ribbon or a piece of card stock, 6" long, to the top of the purse for a handle.

The purse can now hold small treats or gifts. I hope you will give making one a try. It is easy, and it's a fun way to give a small gift.

Pretty Pink Dress of Hope

by Kris Hankins

Pretty Pink Dress of Hope

To help acknowledge October as Breast Cancer Awareness month, I designed this Pretty Pink Dress of Hope card.

Materials

Instructions

  • I started by drawing a dress shaped template. It is approximately 5.5” tall x about 3” wide.

  • Cut a 5” x 12” piece of Melissa Francis Overwhelmed paper.
Fold it at the 6” mark.
This fold will be at the shoulders of your dress card.
Lay your template on the paper (line shoulder up on fold) and lightly trace.
    Cut out.
Do not cut the neck hole; use half of the 1 1/8”circle punch to cut the neck hole.

  • From a piece of Bazzill Emma cardstock, punch a 1 1/8” circle.
Punch the 1 1/2” scalloped circle centered over the punched hole.
This piece is your dress collar.
Fold in half first and then attach to the folded neck of the dress card.

  • From a piece of Bazzill Emma cardstock, punch two border pieces using the Martha Stewart Daisy Dot border punch.
Trim the punched borders down to have approximately a 1/8” solid edge.

  • Stipple the punched border with Brilliance Orchid ink.
This gives the border a bit of irredescence.
You can also stipple the edges of your dress to give the edges some definition.

  • Attach border pieces to the inside of the front and back of dress, making sure they are centered and lined up with each other.
Trim any excess from the ends of border strips.
A Sakura glue pen works great to glue this narrow edged border in place.

  • To make the purse, punch a 1 1/8” circle from the Emma cardstock.
Slice off about a ¼ of the circle.
Next, punch a 1” circle from the Watermelon Sensation cardstock.
    Cut this circle in half.
For the purse handle, punch a ¾” circle in the Watermelon Sensation cardstock.
Punch a 1” circle centered over the smaller punched circle.
Glue these pieces together to form the purse.

  • Embellish the purse with a pink ribbon brad.

  • Attach the purse to the front of the dress with a 3D foam square.

  • Embellish the front of the dress with adhesive pearls for buttons.

  • Finish this card up by stamping your favorite sentiment inside.

Triumph

by Erika Taylor

Triumph

October is such an important month for everyone. Breast Cancer awareness is something that every single one of us deals with. Either about ourselves, our moms, sisters, aunts or friends. It affects all of us and to show support this month, I’ve created a little something for you.

Materials

Instructions

  • Cut pink cardstock 5 ½” x 8 ½”. Score with Scor-Pal at 4 ¼”. Set aside.

  • Cut 4 1/8” x 5 3/8” light pink patterned paper.
    Cut 5 3/8” x 1 ½ hearts patterned paper.
Using border punch, punch both sides.
    Adhere to light pink paper.

  • Cut 6” piece of ribbon and adhere to center of border punched piece.
    Adhere to back of paper.
Adhere entire light pink piece onto card base.

  • Cut out flourishes using Think Pink cartridge and Slice machine.
    Adhere to card front

  • Layer three sizes of Prima flowers and attach together using brad.
Adhere to card front using double sided tape.

  • Cut out triumph sentiment from patterned paper using Think Pink cartridge and Slice machine.
Cut out second piece of paper (slightly larger than sentiment) using scissor and apply double sided tape to entire front.
Apply glitter to piece then adhere triumph sentiment.
    Adhere to card front.

  • Add liquid pearls dots to flourishes.

  • Finish card with rhinestones and pebble.
Using your slice machine to create flourishes and designs can add that little extra to a clean and simple design. Layer your Prima flowers as well to give great dimension. Thank you so much for stopping by today and sharing a card about Triumph.
