Pretty Pink Dress of Hope

by Kris Hankins

Pretty Pink Dress of Hope

To help acknowledge October as Breast Cancer Awareness month, I designed this Pretty Pink Dress of Hope card.

Materials

Instructions

  • I started by drawing a dress shaped template. It is approximately 5.5” tall x about 3” wide.

  • Cut a 5” x 12” piece of Melissa Francis Overwhelmed paper.
Fold it at the 6” mark.
This fold will be at the shoulders of your dress card.
Lay your template on the paper (line shoulder up on fold) and lightly trace.
    Cut out.
Do not cut the neck hole; use half of the 1 1/8”circle punch to cut the neck hole.

  • From a piece of Bazzill Emma cardstock, punch a 1 1/8” circle.
Punch the 1 1/2” scalloped circle centered over the punched hole.
This piece is your dress collar.
Fold in half first and then attach to the folded neck of the dress card.

  • From a piece of Bazzill Emma cardstock, punch two border pieces using the Martha Stewart Daisy Dot border punch.
Trim the punched borders down to have approximately a 1/8” solid edge.

  • Stipple the punched border with Brilliance Orchid ink.
This gives the border a bit of irredescence.
You can also stipple the edges of your dress to give the edges some definition.

  • Attach border pieces to the inside of the front and back of dress, making sure they are centered and lined up with each other.
Trim any excess from the ends of border strips.
A Sakura glue pen works great to glue this narrow edged border in place.

  • To make the purse, punch a 1 1/8” circle from the Emma cardstock.
Slice off about a ¼ of the circle.
Next, punch a 1” circle from the Watermelon Sensation cardstock.
    Cut this circle in half.
For the purse handle, punch a ¾” circle in the Watermelon Sensation cardstock.
Punch a 1” circle centered over the smaller punched circle.
Glue these pieces together to form the purse.

  • Embellish the purse with a pink ribbon brad.

  • Attach the purse to the front of the dress with a 3D foam square.

  • Embellish the front of the dress with adhesive pearls for buttons.

  • Finish this card up by stamping your favorite sentiment inside.
