Mad Scientist Card (Sharon Jeffs)

Mad Scientist Card
by Sharon Jeffs

I recently pulled out all my Distress paints, determined to play with them after a lengthy hiatus from them.  I decided to play with mixing metallic paints in the same way I'd normally mix metallic mixatives with alcohol inks.  The background of the main piece of my card is the result of this play!

For My Superhero (Kathy Berger)

For My Superhero
by Kathy Berger

My older brother Bob is a superhero. When my eldest brother, who had been taking care of Mom, passed away unexpectedly in June, Bob stepped in. Not only did he take care of Ron's estate issues and cleaned out his belongings, he and his wife volunteered to move in to take care of Mom. It wasn't going to be easy, though.

Since June Bob almost single-handedly remodeled the lower floor of Mom's house to turn it into an apartment for him and his wife. He jack-hammered out the concrete floor of the half-bath to put in a shower and laundry. He turned an unfinished room that had been the laundry/furnace room into a lovely little kitchen. He moved a room entrance, added an exit for safety, tiled floors, patched and painted walls and ceilings. He even found time to do a little work to the outside of the house to make it more functional for him, and for mom.

And he did all of this AFTER his regular 40+ hour work-weeks.

He and his wife moved in last week, and this is a card I made to send to him, as a thank-you, and as a house-warming.

I honestly don't know what Mom would have done without him. He is our very own Superhero.

Here is the inside of the card, with a little envelope I made that is just the right size to hold a gift card.

    Embossed Background Card (Sharon Jeffs)

    Embossed Background Card
    by Sharon Jeffs

When I first saw these wonderful Anna Griffin embossing folders, I fell in love.  The designs are ever so beautiful!

After I embossed pieces of white card, I inked the raised surfaces with Distress inks with a blender tool to highlight the pattern further.

On the inside of the card I added a border layer (the embossing folder comes in the set) to the edge of the card.

Bo Bunny Autumn Song Collection Card Set (Rozy Smith)

    Envelopes.....

    Inside of Cards....

Bo Bunny Autumn Song Collection Card Set
    by Rozy

This past Saturday (October 5th) was "World Card Making Day", so on that day I wanted to show how easy it could be to take a specific paper pack and make some quick cards.

The paper I chose is Bo Bunny's Autumn Song Collection. I absolutely love Fall and the represented colors. My scrapbook room is done in Fall décor and it cheers me up when the dark days of Winter arrive. Sooner than we think this year, hardly any Fall at all in Southern Oregon.

I chose a basic card base of 5 1/2" x 5 1/2". One card has a 5"x5" layer. I used American Craft Glitter Tapes in Evergreen & Gold for these sets. Frantic Stamper has the large pack so check it out. Another pointer is that I used dimensional dots; they really make my cards pop.

I also decorated the insides and made matching envelopes.

Just have fun, there is no right way! I made all three in less than an hour. Surprise someone; they will love it!

Collaged Wooden Frame with Mirror (Lis Whiting)

      Collaged Woden Frame with Mirror
      by Lis Whiting

Today's project is a framed mirror. You might wonder where to get a mirror to fit into a wooden frame? Well, I used Tim Holtz MirrorCard. Yup! And it works great! Now that I've spilled the beans about my "secret element" on my project - let's back up to creating!

I wanted to do a frame - the original idea was to do something for students to take with them to college. That idea slowly morphed into the completed project you see today.

Anyway, I started out by buying a plain wooden frame. I painted the frame completely with white gesso. Then I used Moulding Paste and a flower stencil (still all white) to create a texture on the front of my frame.

I used two different spray colors to color my frame (purple and yellow). If I had it do over again I probably would have chosen a light red and yellow.  The colors would have blended better where they meet on my project.

After I colored my frame, I sanded the tops of the flowers so that there would be more contrast.

I used a number of different embellishments to decorate my frame including washi tape, organza ribbon, pearls and some 3-D stickers.

      Here are some close ups!

River Rat Scrapbooking Page (Sharon Jeffs)

      River Rat Scrapbooking Page
      by Sharon Jeffs

After a recent holiday this year on the river, I had quite a few photos of my relatives to scrapbook.  This page features photos of my little niece as she played in the mud at the rivers edge.

I chose to use the Polka dot paper as the base of my page then cut out different thicknesses of the chevron design from the chevron patterned paper that I inked the edges of and layered over my background.  Next I used some of the patterned papers to mat the photos and layered them onto the page.

Using the Floral patterned paper, I cut out all the large rose sections, inked their edges and layered them as seen in the photo. Lastly I added different stickers, layering a few over a label sticker.

One extra thing I chose to do once the adhesive was completely dry was to go back and bend the inked edges of the chevrons and the floral sections to add extra dimension to them.

Cut Suede Nutmeg paper 6 1/2" x 5". If you want to conserve this paper, cut out the center and save!

Cut 5 3/4" x 4 1/2" patterned paper from the Authentique Autumn Paper Collection.

Center size is 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". Stamp with Leaf Background stamp and color with colors of your choice, using Tim Holtz Distress Markers. Brush on Gold Ice Stickles for shimmer.

Embellishments of your choice, of course! On this card there is ribbon for the bow, butterflies (I love butterflies), metals (Made For You heart) and metal corners.

This card was made special for a friend's Mother!

      Nature's Colorization (Rozy Smith)

Nature's Colorization; a Colored Image Project
      by Rozy

Stamp Frantic Stamper's Leaf Background image on white cardstock using Jet Black StazOn ink pad. What's fun about this project is you can use your imagination in the coloring of the leaves. Using Tim Holtz Distress Markers (16 colors) from his Distress Marker pack (linked below) proceed to create to your hearts content.

Let the coloring dry and then take a small paintbrush and brush on Stickles Ice Gold (lightly) to give the shimmer effect.

Use your imagination to decide how you want to use the colored image! Too much fun!
