Spring Is In The Air (Design Team Project)

by Kris Hankins

Spring Is In The Air

I know that everyone is always pressed for time. Easy and quick is a good thing. With that in mind, this week I made a card that is very simple and quick to make. It utilizes some basic card-stock, WeRMemory Makers 4x6 Mat from the Peep collection, Bazzill Dotted Swiss Tahitian Princess card-stock, and some 3D embellishments. This card would be perfect to give to a friend just to say “hi”, or to be used for Easter.

I matted the “Spring is in the Air” pre-printed mat from the Peep paper stack onto the polka dotted mat from the same pad. To bring the pre-printed mat to life and to make my card look more customized, I wanted to give it more dimension, so I colored the word “spring” with a clear glazing pen. This gave it shine and dimension and feels as though it was clear embossed, without all the work.

I love the elasticized plaid ruffle ribbon. It is a new favorite of mine since it is perfect for making easy flowers. I punched a ½ circle from a scrap of cardstock and added some adhesive to it. I laid the edge of the ribbon on the edge of the circle to make a nice ruffled flower. I added a colorful button for the center of the flower and attached this ribbon flower over a printed flower on the mat.

I added more colorful buttons to the centers of the other printed flowers after threading embroidery floss through the button centers to add that extra finishing touch. I attached a piece of pink tiny ric rac and the punched pink paper tab and then finished my bright and cheery spring card by layering all of this onto the dotted swiss card base with 3D adhesive squares to add even more dimension.

I lined the inside of the card with a white piece of cardstock and even added a strip of a scrap cardstock to add some pizzazz to the inside too. This card was so easy and fun that I hope you will give pre-printed mats and 3-D embellishments a try next time you need to put together a quick card.

Happy Spring!
